minus the popcorn, but still

7 May

as sleeping pill sun creeps up,
a blue canvass gives way to
bruised rib cage sky.

squirrels leap in knievel bounds,
the air show of crow seagull carries on
as barn doors fly open
in preparation for
moonshine;
a trespass sleep in the graveyard
just an inner mission.

    I agree that “knievel bounds” is just a marvelous phrase–there’s a great deal of imagery in those two little words. This piece has a stream-of-consciousness feel to it, but there’s no rambling, no aimlessness; there’s a certain tightness that belies the form. Strong piece of work.

      thanks for the feedback W.k., but agreeing with kvennarad aka Marie? She’s a cricket junky.
      i’m only kidding and hope she makes her way like i did to your poetry via william miller.
