urine, outer space, and national holidays

25 Jun

yesterday was st. jean baptiste day in quebec.
there were concerts, people jumping into fires
and a free thunder storm with rain.
we went to the new planetarium
it’s right beside olympic stadium where the expos used to play.
i love that place. it looks like a spaceship.
there’s still pigeons, sea gulls and skateboarders hanging around

the planetarium has a dinosaur head and a caption saying,
“99 per cent of species suffer cataclysmic extinction
paving the way for a new species”
and that somehow connects to
the puddles and garbage and smell of urine
where expo tickets used to be scalped
but i don’t feel like thinking about it.

*broken bats baseball on something else….
my grandma could be in the baseball hall of fame

I like the “free thunder storm”, like it’s a privilege (it is) often overlooked. Have you listened to Coast to Coast AM before? There was a story that was similar to this “not really poetry” poetry.

more on thunder storms….maybe they have replaced church bells as that envelope sound sending us to gather. at st. jean’s, an impromptu drum festival broke out beside olympic stadium with pickle buckets, people’s laps, a few tom toms.
i never hear that particular episode on coast to coast. it’s been awhile since my sleeping pattern kept me awake between 12-5 am. that’s the normal schedule of that show or it used to be anyway. it’s great for over the road truckers and the paranoia it discusses like illuminati and ufo’s, crop circles, bomb shelters, solar powered flashlights is maybe america’s top export.

Huh. Saints’ days. Just so long as no one’s head was on a plate.

      no need for head cutting.
the removal of people’s head coverings is what’s in these days.

I don’t want to think about it either. If that’s any cold comfort to you. I mean to say – yeah, you right on. BTW – if it is St. Pompeii’s Day – removal of the head is required. Just so ya know.

well in the expos case, the head was just relocated to washington d.c. It’s a small consolation as soccer fields continue to replace baseball diamonds in montreal, but thankfully there are fans like jonah keri who keep the expos kind of alive.
