in homeland we play

27 Jul

the wailing western wall i don’t know
and not the great wall of china either
i can build both with tinker toys anyway,
but any old cement wall
around this or that corner
tucked away not important
that’s the material of seven temples saving my world
and right here and right now.
i touch its cold face softly.
i listen, bow down, and sacrifice a word or two
receiving memory and reminder in return,
of sunrise and sunset who knew the difference?
when ball touches line or
goes above line,
there is no running home.
there is home run
better than diamonds.

broken bats baseball on
the greatest hitter that ever lived set to music
in the 3 hole

i was hoping someone might say that. i sometimes look over an old post and think to myself, “what a bunch of hogwash,” but this one is my compass. I’m glad you’re celebrating too.
