a horse timeline

the stable smells.
it’s old, dirty and far from tourist eyes;
stuck in the bushes along the lachine canal.
but horses sleep there;
in preparation for the daily run in old Montreal;
for lovers and children and
horses do stand up in slow scaffolding erection,
barely tinker toys,
but sturdy in strollers and holding hands,
neighing and sighing,
the slow slap of hoofs
a trot of whispers and neck caress.
a gallop of wind kissing flesh
the click clack speed unstoppable forever in a flash
