Good thing there is art to constantly alter reality, or at least one’s perception of reality.

If the Montreal subway is anything like the New York City subway, believe me, no one is looking at you. The &#@%ers care about one thing and one thing only, and that’s beating you to the doors when the train comes and getting a seat at your expense. They don’t even care if a person is 70 or 80 years old. They want their &%#*ing seat, and they will not give it up for anyone. If they are with people, they will laugh and talk and joke with them, but they will never let you into their clique, the bastards. God, I’ve got to get out of this awful city.

montrealers are kind of pleasant or shy or both. of course there’s an in your face element, but even the squeegie kids, punk rockers, hip hop crowd, business man in suites, even everyone i think is impacted by socialized medicine and socialism in general. It oozes into the way people interact and care for each other here. Montreal seems tame in compared to what i remember about new york. I found it impossible to endure there. I was only there for 3 years total on two separate occasions. I needed a break but just had to go back for more abuse, stupid me. But don’t get me wrong, I will always love that place. I made it my mission when i was there to walk everywhere and love so much of it, from Greenwood cemetery to the New Jersey Palisades, to the view of ManHatTan from Greenpoint Brooklyn, the Burger King near Church Avenue, and on and on , but i was dwarfed by the scarier elements and I still can’t put my finger on what exactly those elements were, but they scared me out of there.
