before car radios

17 Aug

people used to drive egyptian roads when suddenly
Om Kalthoum`s fakkarouni came on the radio and
people had to pull over because
driving under the influence of that sound
tunes one to other things.
the 1 hour song translates as ”They Reminded Me.”
it’s a love song that could be applied to the rain and sun
but instead,
we have grocery stores,
but there are no rules against dancing in the grocery store aisles
or dancing in our minds as we walk those same aisles,
imagining any partner we want.
