the switchman

28 May

i sit in the bathtub,
not too often,
but the next time i do,
i will watch the water slither towards the drain and
remember that
water wears down everything and
it will do me too.
then after that,
i’ll exit the tub,
dry off,
and cut some vegetables in the nude.

sunny side down

27 Mar

mcdonalds was an ocean,
so salty and feeling so good
livingroompainting3probably the smell of hash browns did it and then the sight of an american cheese slice oozing down an egg muffin side and the membraneous feel of that flattened egg in my mouth,the squirt of ketchup and gobble gobble gobble.
i hadn’t even touched the hash brown yet and even when i parked the mcmuffin and
manhandeld the hash brown in peace,
i still hadn’t sunk my eyes into the beautiful black abyss of my coffee,
but the last gulp had to happen,
and in a blink of 30 minutes
i was back on the street,
nothing but tumbleweed again.

revisiting canned heat

8 Sep

i like everything about elevators,
especially how the door slides open andelao 001 (2)
right away there’s potential in the
star trek teleportation feel.
and all the buttons,
but i push none
and by way of some mechanical law – go nowhere,
but when I sing,
the walls change color and
gravity loses power
and flying and somewhere else
kicks in…

standing strong

31 Mar

this one by colorsetbrushes makes me sweat; words too.

colorsetbrushes

it’s good to wake up again and standstrong 001 (2)
see light give shape and form to objects
the branches begging the sun;
all kinds of begging;
some with still hands at their side;
others bending,
waving wild in the wind;
never before shadows
creeping slowly across nearby mounds.

in praise of water

Another painting by colorsetbrushes with words.

a grocery store’s empty shelfsarahfall 001 (2)
is where a kid dared to go and
he saw wires and cobwebs
and a bug that didn’t move.
it was the kid’s little secret and
so were the other places
he wandered.

sky-otique

25 Mar

I realized for the first time that paintings can make me hungry.

she wore a white turtle neck;BCsky 001 (2)
made her red cheeks look really red.
i wanted to tell her;
“you look like an ice cream cone,”
but i knew better or
knew worse.
i stared at the sky instead;
at the way it hugged the land
and so on.
